Come dare to believe that a good story is being written through your marriage.

A conference designed to provide space for you as couples to receive care and recover your heart for each other.

Most of us would say our marriages have had to weather some hardships over the past year. With our world being so turned upside down we are having to work hard to re-orient to one another.  Perhaps through all of this your marriage feels a bit weathered?

In the pitching seas of our pandemic world, we’ve found ourselves in a life raft with just our spouse as a shipmate.  The one person we can hug, talk to unmasked face to face and wrestle with grief, fear, and uncertainty.  Like it or not—we are companions at sea navigating the storm.

We shipmates have been in survival.  A cancelled vacation is a hole in the hull.  The loss of a job and income are life preservers gone adrift.  Constant children’s needs with no reprieve nearly cap-size the vessel. You feel like you are barely surviving and keeping yourself afloat.

Marriage is a heroic act. The attempts and desires to keep your heart buoyed and your deep intention to pursue one another matters.  Perhaps this is the first storm of your marriage or maybe its #273. Either way now is a good time to give your weather-beaten heart some space to reflect on where you have been together and anchor yourselves once again to the shores of hope. What do your hearts need? Where is there wounding? What is the story of your marriage?

The Story of Your Marriage

by Chris Bruno

The window-unit air conditioner only cooled the small living room of our first apartment, and on hot and sticky Chicago summer nights, we’d pull out the hide-a-bed from my grandmother’s 40 year old couch to sleep. But the ancient lumpy mattress didn’t bother these newlyweds. It was a bed to share, and that was all that mattered.

Finding Each Other When You Lose the Way

by Sam Jolman

Halfway across New Mexico, we almost lost our marriage. We didn’t know it yet, as the highway stretched out before us for miles. We sped along lulled by a landscape I could never quite figure out. It lacked the lushness to be called prairie or plains. But I never imagined a desert dotted with so many hearty plants. Whatever it was, I found an odd comfort in its barren grittiness and playful dust devils.

The Story of the Pink Shoes

by Beth Bruno

For over 17 years a pair of faux pink suede shoes have been in their original box, with all the silica gel, in a tupperware container in storage. 17 years ago they received about an hour and a half of daylight. Worn once, but kept all these years because of the significance of the wearing.
